It has been brought to our attention that the plastic whiteboard rubbers used in some of our junior classes have a piece of sharp metal inside to weight them. To a number of our older children, this has sparked curiosity and has appeared to be a piece of ‘cool metal’ and not been immediately reported to an adult. <?xml:namespace prefix = “o” ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />
As soon as we have been aware of this, the items have been removed and made safe and a complaint has been made to the supplier.
We have talked to the children about everyday objects and how when they are broken can become unsafe, therefore this should always be reported to an adult, whether it is an item at home or an item in school.
We would be very grateful if you could reinforce this message at home, if disposing of broken items safely is something that you have not already discussed with your child.
Please be reassured that the whiteboard rubbers have been removed from any classrooms that were using them, we have raised this issue with the supplier and we are seeking a replacement from the company.
Many thanks for your support.
